Is It Relevant for the Life of a Particular Animal to Have a Moral Status?

Is it relevant for the life of a particular animal to be meaningful if we are to include in our moral circle? I do not think so. It is sufficient for them to have a moral status by the fact that many of them do have sensations and do have feelings, again, somewhat different from ours. Bu yes, we are bound to them morally. It is wrong to torture animals as well, i think. And there are some other things it is morally wrong to do to them, right?
