Is There a Conspiracy?
I will assume that someone is incompetent and under perverse incentives before i will necessarily assume that they are part of a grand conspiracy. I don't believe in government competence to that level where they could pull off something like that. We have this circular feedback loop where these people are all talking each other and looking to each other for advice. The politician looks to the adviser. The adviser's not going to tll the politician what he doesn't want to hear, because he wants to keep his cushy advising job. So we've got this really awful feedback loop that confirms all the worst aspects of the personalities of the people that have gotten into politics. And so i'm not that interested in going into
