The Potential for Participatory Deliberative Democracy
I think one of the powerful ideas here is that we need kind of a systemic transformation of what our democracy is. And this maybe more participatory deliberative version of democracy is not only a way of bringing other animals into the process, but also just kind of more democratic and it gives more power to everyday humans as well. You know, another example from the book that I think about often is, as you mentioned, these horses were taught to use like pictogram symbols to communicate.
