Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, much more potent than carbon dioxide. Animals that eat grass and digest it like cows and sheep burp a lot of methane. It allows you to directly cut the emissions coming from the cattle and the sheep. But it also free up land that can then be used for other crops or bioenergy.
