Visualizations Can Engage People
Too much emotion can be distracting. You don't want to leave them just in a state of bliss or a state of fever. And an certainly, those things can engage. They're a kind of social gluei remember going to a conference once where someone was showing a coffee dispenser that was dressed like a butler and bowed slightly when it gave the cof. It warmed you to it, it made you in collusion with it. So establish a social bound very quickly and ensure visualizations can do that too.
