There's a trend, i think, towards seeking for the real, or accurate version of arthur. People want to believe again, but they need an arthur that seems more historically plausible. The biggest example of this is the two thousand four movie, with kera knightley and clive owen. Which is not a good movie, but what distinguishes it is that it tries to cast arthur and his knights in a more roman light. It depicts the conflicts and power struggles between celto romans, christians and pagans and saxons. And it largely omits magic and sorcery.
