How to Tackle the Outer Child

Taming the outer child is very much what we're talking about now. The outer child is the part that sabotages everything. When you become an adult, you don't want to be avoiding things that are hard. But yet your outer child will practise avoidance when you really would rather. That's why the phd, the dissertation never gets written, whatever. Because the outer child has developed all these patterns that, in adulthood, become maladaptive. So when you start to love yourself, you overcome those patterns. You just don’t want to be savotaged any more. We have a very similar model of self-sabotage with our adolescent egos.
