The Importance of Translation in the Gospels

Greek is become a language that is spoken very widely it's not perhaps spoken as widely as Latin but in the milieu of the Jews and Gentiles getting to know one another it's most often Greek that they get one to know each other in. The Christian idea of scripture is distinct from many many other ideas of scripture for instance if you think of the Quran right which is the which is Muslim scripture that word means recitation Quran just means recitation and so there is a very real way in which those particular words those syllables are the divine speech, unmediated by image or person or story.
