The Bus, It's the Prison
Lion is an evolution of story, isn't it? Andy's bus, it's the prison yard. What I took from this was this is probably our last opportunity for visual freedom. The rest of the movie takes place under lock and key in small cells. For me, it's almost a spirit. We had the concept of Saru's spirit travelling from Australia to India. I feel like this is a spiritual shot, personally. But I also think, and tell me if I'm wrong, but it's not a coincidence that the end of the movie is a helicopter shot as well.
