Cribs premiered in September 2000 from freelancer to successfully pitching a show through to series. Nina L Diaz was doing long form music news pieces and documentaries covering artists and celebrities in very structured interviews. She wanted that unfiltered raw, real let your hair down version of these artists and celebrities. Her bosses told her it would never happen because no one ever letting us into their homes. We're talking prewives, pre Instagram, social media, all this kind of stuff.
