Desaline's Extermination of the French
This was not a popular thing desiline was doing. Any white american or british citizen, for example, were always identified and shuffled off to one side. Desaline also spared any polish soldiers left in the colony. But if you fell into that category of anyone born french whose profane foot soils the land of liberty, you were doomed. About five thousand poles had come over to haiti over 18 o two, 18 o three, and a ton of them promptly defected to the indigenous army. Not only about 12 hundred survived, but of those, 500 would permanently settle in haiti as haytian citizens.
