Understanding the Different Types of Natural Disasters

Geological disasters include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. Meteorological disasters include hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. To describe the severity of a disaster, we can use words such as mild, moderate, severe, devastating and catastrophic. We may also need to be able to describe the extent of damage and the effects it has on people and the environment.
