The Origins of Grammar and the Verbalization of Experience
I've often thought it'd be nice to have something like clicks but for more complex constructions than just words, but I'm not sure how you would do that. That would be hard to think about. And there the chief inspiration that I've taken is from the work of Wally Chafe who's done some great research on verbalization starting back in the 70s. He's probably one of the best linguists to think about how a function gets expressed into form.
