How to Identify Solid Tumor Cells as Cancerous
Two antigens or two proteins on the surface of disease cells must be present in order to get killing by a CAR T-cell. The problem with this approach is even first generation CARs, those that only contain CD3's ADAP, have caused this problem of on target off-tumor toxicity in the clinic. We haven't seen clinical data from this approach yet but we don't know if it might be okay.
