The Importance of Preservation in Digital Media

The idea of theft affecting the creator of the thing being stolen feels from everything i know just dramatically out of touch with how all of this works. There's just a lack of concerted effort to preserve digital archives which is bad not just personally but for democracy like entire archives of newspapers are disappeared online all the time because someone bought them yeah. This kind of world we're living in now where things can just disappear at the whim of any company kind of makes me really nervous for my career and his life.
