Water Quality Monitoring

The Indian River Lagoon has lost 36,000 acres of sea ground in a year and a half. The lagoon is home to one of the world's most biologically diverse ecosystems. Scientists are trying to track where pollution comes from by using pioteminescent bacteria that emit light when they get into trouble. But funding for water quality monitoring programmes have been cut off due to lack of state and federal government support.
