Hank Williams: The Most Important Single Figure in Country Music
Hank Williams was the most important single figure in country music, possibly ever. He had 35 hits in the country top 10, of which 11 went to number 1 and he wrote dozens upon dozens of country and gospel classics. His yodeling country blues was the most popular country music of his time - massively influential on everyone. There were other Cajun musicians who played country music of course, but you get a real sense of someone who is equally at home with both cans of music.
