The Importance of Democracy
A fundamental question that should always be in play in the practicing life is what will you see and what won't you see? The context I give to this would be that of democracy or of democracy specifically as a duty, as a responsibility. Anybody looking at the last century of Buddhism in the West with a bit of a critical view will note that so much of it has really played the role of refuge from reality. It's interesting how strongly that contrasts with many claims made by Buddhist teachers.
