Baseball Calls - Is That a Good Idea?
In 1937, See McBride of the Kansas City Star suggested using a camera to check up on umpires. The idea was that if there was a close play at first, you'd take a picture somehow and it would be like an automatic camera set up for racetracks. And then you would rush the footage off to the dark room and sift it through the liquid and have the red lights and everything before showing everyone the print back to the field.
