The Effect of a Surprise Reward on Reciprocity

This surprise reward boosts reciprocity. It reminded me of another study on reciprocity and charitable donations. And this is a study from 2007. Armin Falk from the University of Bonn sent 9,846 genuine letters asking for donations to a charity working in developing countries. Those who received the surprise gifts were significantly more likely to donate.
