The Christmas Association of Mistletoe Is Celtic in Origin

Druidism is likely to go back much further in time than this. Ancient druidism continued up until around 12 hundred years ago. The celtic druids believed that mistletoe was the essence of the sun god, called a torannus by the gall tribes of celts. And any tree hosting mistletoe on its branches was marked sacred. Also talks about the important animal sacrifice and fertility to the druids.
