A lot of social psychologists have a worldview i call prime world which basically is that you know the world is pretty good as is we just have these pesky primes and biases. I think our brains latch on to model causal accounts of why we're getting outcomes we don't like so if you actually try to understand why discriminate racially discriminatory outcomes persist in the u.s, it's hard to sort of grasp the complexity. A lot of this stuff is trying to keep the status quo in place which ends up costing hundreds of millions of dollars on at best pointless interventions.
