Common Christian Interpretation of Isaiah
After world war one, a lot of americans turned to isaiah and other parts of the bible trying to make sense of the great war. They found in the writings of isaiah prophecies that they thought were about airplanes. So there are some common christian interpretations that we have sort of inherited. And then because a prophet or apostle repeated them, we think, oh, well, it must be a prophecy by a larity prophet and apostle. We can read into this story about us going forth and serving as missionaries.
