The Different Types of Trials in Britain in the 18th Century

The average length of a trial in the late 18th century was something like 15 minutes. Very often, there were no lawyers appearing in criminal cases. Until 1836, felony defendants didn't have a right to be legally represented. Cases got into the trial process through local information filtered through magistrates.
