The Tension Between Children's Rights and Parents' Rights
Children's rights and parents' rights, where do they come from ideologically? Well, I mean, both of them come from much later than the period that I'm examining. In order for you to sort of retreat to your country, a state to educate your own children, there's a sense in which the state can't be mandating what you're doing. But you also have a certain duty to produce a certain kind of citizen for the state, right? And so there's a tension there, which is the state cannot enforce the thing at most needs.
