The Relationship Between Reality and God's Speaking
Reality is intelligible, but not in itself as if there was a kind of brute fact in front of us that we're merely reading or perceiving nakedly. But reality has meaning precisely because it comes from the Word of God. And our language has in the same way that Adam and Eve have a subordinate role under God in bringing order to the creation. So they're not subcreators in the sense that they create extnehilo in the way that God does, but they're given the charge of cultivating the world in Genesis 1 language.
