The Virtue of Practical Wisdom
Aristotle says there's no such thing as doing generosity or kindness. The virtue that makes the bridge between those ideals and the actions that you do is called practical wisdom. This idea about useless excellences, or useless truths, are to be found in Aristotle's Nicomachean ethics book six.
