There is some interesting literature on Mediterranean diets and Mediterranean diet adherence. The main improvements with this diet are the removal of seed oils. I don't think there's any magic to olive oil or whole grains. Carbohydrate restriction does work for some people by limiting hunger. Long term ketosis lowers ghrelin, but as a friendly debate with Thomas to lower talked about why I stopped doing keto a few years ago.
