There is an auto imin condition of hairloss called alapitia ariata, which is a condition where the body sort of attacks its own hair folicles. And it preferentially will launch an attack against pigmented hair follicles. So in an individual who had, say, salt and pepper type har and developed alapitaariata, then the pepper hairs would preferentially be shed, leaving you with the white appearance. But again, it's taking a slight assumption that that individual had that salt and pepper hair in the beginning.
