There's a need for people who crate relationships with influences or people with audiences, and match them up with brands. Story telling can only go so far before customers invest the start to see past that. The influence of stuff still kind of works for a lot of people. If you're in an agency business, Lean into the ego. You don't want to do like, highly technical stuff.
