The Spirit of Moderation
The spirit of moderation requires treating people with respect, recognizing their equal dignity and embracing diversity and pluralism. That's why I think at the heart of the spirit of moderation lies the effort to burst out of our bubbles and echo chambers. This is the greatest danger to any free society that we become prisoners of our own bubbles or echo chambers. The spirit of moderation casts doubt on anyone who claims to have absolute authority on a particular topic. It seeks to find a compromise between their interest and one's own. There is a spirit of self-restraint at the heartof moderation.
