The Stardust's Flight to Santiago
The plane's radio operator maintained hourly contact with Santiago's Los Sarios Airport. At 5 pm, the Stardust signaled it was at an altitude of 20,000 feet. Operators continued sending messages throughout the night, hoping the pilot had taken a different route. None of their calls were answered.
