The Rise of the Assyrian Empire
From this abutania we have roughly one million documents and quite a significant portion of those comes from Assyria. The transition from the city-state to a net kingdom in the mid-second millennium is hard to trace because for some 300 years between 1700 and 1400 BCE we have very few sources. Altogether though, the evidence is very rich, remarkably rich and especially these eight archives from the later Syria period plus those royal inscriptions give us a chance to have enormously detailed glimpses into the political world of this time.
