The Story of Rising Inmate Rates

The story of rising incarceration rates has a lot to do with shifting circumstances. If you graduated from college and youre a black man, your chance of being incarcerated at some poit in your life is 6%. That's six times different than if you did not go to high school. And then you really see the matic escallation of incarceration rates starting in the 19 sixties and 19 seventies. So that there's this overlap of race and class that becomes a population that the carseral state is central, essentially, to policing.
