The myth of progress has been deployed for a couple of centuries now to block change. It serves exactly the same function as the Christian mythology of the Second Coming. The likelihood of it blowing up in your face and actually supporting the status quo is extremely high. And so I can imagine somebody, you know, deploying a kind of like half ironically, a myth of progress as an incantation in order to create the context for real change.
In this episode John Michael Greer and I discuss his 'Kek Wars' article series on how the Chans used magick to influence the 2016 elections.
We talk about political campaigns as magical performance, 4chan as the collective unconscious of the internet, the lefts failure to recognize a politics of existential crises, the myth of progress, and the antidote to cosmic indifference. 🐙
