Barbie Land: A Feminist Utopian Utopie
Greta Gerwig's new movie, Lady Bird, is about a young woman who learns to love herself. The central theme of the whole movie is motherhood and how women are expected to work hard at their jobs. But in Barbie Land, which she calls her utopia, men are treated like second-class citizens. And even when feminist guru character offers Barbie chance to go into real world for help, she chooses Birkenstocks over high heels.
