The Vice of Self-Esteem

Cachin says the vice of self-esteem is difficult to fight against because it has many forms and appears in all our activities. The person who wants to engage fully in spiritual combat should not do anything with a view to being praised by other people, Cachin says. As we grow in virtue, as we grow in its opposite virtue, pride only increases in temptation.
