In 2002, Stuart Foster and his co-workers started a website called gradfinder.com. The site was designed to let people stay in touch with friends they met on the internet. But within a year of its launch, it went out of business due to lack of funding. Foster then decided to create communicate.com as an online game that would allow users to buy things from each other using their browsers.
