FDA Underperformed, What's the Opposite Lesson From It?
FDA underperformed, he says. There was a kind of reactive bureaucratic instinct that took over at a time what we really needed to move fast and make the best choice in conditions of high uncertainty. The libertarian response seems to anticipate that the desired end, end state is the elimination of the FDA or it's radical minimization. But I don't think we're going back to a time of patent medicine, where we aren't going to insist on high quality clinical trials before we allow drugs to be sold.
