Step back from the dance and ask for calmness. Close your eyes like whatever moment you're in. If there's a rope being pulled on either side, give slack as much as you can giving slack. Maybe you apologize. Maybe you acknowledge what they're saying is valid. Basically giving where you might normally combat. And this when you start to do this, you'll notice that your dance partner will start to provoke even harder.
