The State of Eternal Separation

Father Rooney rejects eternal conscious torment as a moniker for this state because he says God does nothing to torment anyone. He understands the Orthodox Catholic doctrine of hell as simply the state of persisting and mortal sin forever. The God that Rooney is describing there is, if anything, more evil because his intentions have about them, the quality of deep indifference.
