In the book, you talk about Earth and the universe of giant killing machines. And it made me think about some extinction level event in our future. How soon prior to that would we find out? Or could we know with our current technology? Well, the good thing about species-extincting asteroids is that they're the biggest among them,. So what's a little more pernicious, I think that's the right word, is the smaller ones which can easily obliterate a city. But fortunately, most of Earth's surface is not covered by city. It's covered by ocean and then by uninhabited swaths of land.
