What's Going on in Black Rock and Willow Park?
In 2009 the Ryan Commission published its report after a nine year investigation into what had happened in orphanages, reformities and industrial schools in Ireland. That report found that physical abuse was rife, neglect was rife and that the sexual abuse of boys was endemic in all of these institutions. So I suppose my question is why do you think it took so long for the abuse in Black Rock and Willow Park to become public? I think it comes down to a number of factors but particularly the deeply ingrained sense of loyalty to the brand which people at Black Rock College are immensely proud of. There are approximately 17,000 living past pupils of Black Rock. 8,000 of those belong to the past pupils union
