The Long-Term Outcomes of the Crimean War
The Ottoman Empire survived until 1920, making it a very effective roadblock between the Russians in the Black Sea and the Brits in the Mediterranean. It gives Louis Napoleon Bonaparte the prestige that he would use to set out on a campaign to try and reorganize Europe along a nation-state construct. The problem with looking at the Crimean War as a military war is you grossly underestimate just how successful the Royal Navy is.
