The Raa and the Recording Industry
The recording industry only exists because they took sheet music and recorded it, which is a thing that composers really hate. The reason we have to write societies for for radio, b m i and ascap, is as cap represented all the respectable artists who tailored to middle class and bourgeois audiences. B m i formed to represent what was called race music and hail billy music, country music and music. And then ascap was like, wire these illegitimate pretenders whose music is no good. You must put our music on the radio. It's always so fascinating to learn these behind the scene stories of whose interests ended up with culture being what it is.
