The Conservatives Will Be Forced to Increase Spending
You wrote that any Tory government, no matter its avowed commitments, is going to be forced into expanding the state's economic interventions. The question is how and in whose favour? Given what we've seen from Hunt and there will at least be this attempt to implement austerity, why are you confident that the Conservatives will be forced at least eventually to actually increase spending? First things first, they haven't yet cut spending. Second of all, they already have increased public spending. If you look at total spending even after they cut back on economic support it remained very high largely because of the cost of healthcare. And partly because UK capitalism desperately needs a post-Brexit strategy for growth. It needs something
