The Importance of Endoscopic Management of Lower GI Bleed
A gastroscopy should be done prior to CTA if there is suspicion for a upper GI bleed. If no bleeding source has been found, colonoscopy can be done when the patient is stabilized. Endoscopic management depends on the etiology of the bleed and lesions are only rarely identified. Angioictages are more often found in elderly patients on anticoagulation or antiplatelets,. APC, Argonne plasma coagulation was an effective therapeutic modality.
