Rebecca: I do think meditation and mindfulness is helpful for the loved one. When you're doing therapy with a loved one of someone who's either actively using or in early recovery, I like the fact of the patient teaching the therapist a mindfulness technique. It's kind of cool and it's something that the person who is a loved one can actually hold as their very own. So hey, give it a try. Hey, I taught my therapist this today. It's pretty neat.
