Antidepressants and the Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor
There's no clear answer on that. As Marsha pointed out, antidepressants interact with neurotransmitters in the brain. And so because SSRIs have been shown to have positive results for depression and other disorders, there is support for serotonin playing a specific role in these disorders. But even though SSRIs work, we're not still 100% sure why they work.
