The Importance of Not Having to Justify the Choice
There's a really fantastic resource called Abortion on Screen, which is run out of some one of the University of California campuses. It tracks the changing nature of abortion representation in film and TV mainly, but will also look at adaptations of fiction. These are all stories in which abortion is associated with a new beginning. Something is enabled by the death of the fetus. But I do, I think I've got mixed feelings about this. After all, most abortions aren't accessed by people in this situation - childless white women in relationship difficulties who want to change their lives. The choice is made. And that's that.
